For Domestic Austin-Area Grants:

Initial Phase (Step 1):

Once you have determined that you are a good fit for funding by the Sooch Foundation, please submit an initial Letter of Inquiry (LOI) of no more than 1-2 pages.

We use the Central Texas Education Funders (CTEF) Common Grant Application. For the initial phase, please submit the Common Letter of Inquiry (LOI) Form which can be accessed here. There are additional documents available at that link, such as Instructions and a Glossary of Terms, that may aid grantseekers in completing the LOI. Please do not complete the entire Common Grant Application form during the initial phase.

We prefer to receive grantee LOI's via email at info@soochfoundation.org; they may also be sent by postal mail.

Secondary Phase (Step 2):

If we should decide that your organization is a viable candidate for funding, we will contact you to set up a personal interview and/or site visit. At that point, we will request additional detailed information about your organization's accomplishments and goals, which may include filling out the complete CTEF Common Grant Application, accessible here.

If your organization has advanced to the secondary phase, your grant will be discussed at the quarterly board meeting and you will be notified of your status shortly thereafter. Please note that advancing to the secondary phase does not guarantee funds to your organization, as the board bears ultimate responsibility in grantmaking decisions.

Deadlines:

There are no deadlines for applying for a grant-we accept LOI's on a rolling basis throughout the year. However, our due diligence process is quite lengthy, and the board only meets on a quarterly basis. The entire grant process can take three to six months total. For this reason, we recommend you submit your initial LOIs well in advance of the time you anticipate needing the funds.

For International Grants:

We award our India-based grants on a much smaller scale than our Austin-based grants, and follow a separate process. At this time, we are not soliciting proposals for our international projects. Please email us at info@soochfoundation.org with any questions.
